The 49ers will be moving to Santa Clara next season to play in their new stadium, located 39 miles from San Francisco. That puts the 49ers the farthest from their own city, out of every team in American sports.

Joe Montana, the 49ers' legendary quarterback, isn't pleased with the new move. He is doing promotional work for the NFL in London this week, during which he criticized San Francisco leadership for letting the 49ers move away.

Montana said he understood fans' wariness of the decision to move. From ProFootballTalk's report:

“I don’t think there was enough of an effort by people in power at the time to try to keep them there. To me, they made a terrible effort to try to keep them in San Francisco,” Montana said, via CSNBayArea.com.
