Brad Ausmus, an 18-year-veteran of the Padres, Tigers, Astros and Dodgers, was in Chicago interviewing for the Cubs' manager job on Friday, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.
Ausmus, a former catcher with a career .251 batting average, is one of six known candidates for the job, according to Heyman — the others being Padres executive A.J. Hinch, Padres bench coach Rick Renteria, Rays bench coach Dave Martinez, former Indians and Nationals manager Manny Acta and former Mariners and Indians manager Eric Wedge. Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo is also on the radar though he hasn't interviewed yet.
Ausmus also interviewed with the Tigers, according to Heyman.
