Brian Wilson is "getting close" to re-signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to a tweet Tuesday from MLB writer Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports. The news comes approximately one week after the free agent was believed to be in "serious" negotiations to play for the Detroit Tigers next year.

Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported that the Tigers' recent signing of closer Joe Nathan to a two-year deal on Tuesday will likely speed up the contract negotiations between the Dodgers and Wilson. Wilson, 31, is three years removed from leading the league in saves (48) and was last a closer in 2011 when he pitched for the San Francisco Giants.

In 2012, he underwent Tommy John surgery for an elbow he injured in the first week of the 2012 season and did not return to the major leagues until last summer when he signed with the Dodgers. He finished last season with a 0.66 ERA in 13 1/3 innings pitched before the team's season ended at the hands of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2013 NLCS.
