Candidates for the Texas job are dropping like flies, with Art Briles staying at Baylor and Jim Mora signing an extension with UCLA.

But if Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher takes the Longhorns job after Monday's BCS championship game, he could have a prized transfer coming with him — Heisman winner Jameis Winston — although Winston was (most likely) kidding.

Winston said he and his teammates have not concerned themselves with speculation about Fisher being a candidate at Texas. And at his media session on Friday, the redshirt freshman took it one step further.

"Even if Coach Fisher goes to Texas, I'm going to ask him, 'Can I go with you?' Yeah, I'm serious. He's my coach," Winston said with a smile.

Winston, who has thrown for 3,820 yards and 38 touchdowns this season, said he wanted to play for Texas out of high school and even tried to call Mack Brown, but he inevitably chose to play for the Seminoles.

Winston turns 20 the day of the title game and will be eligible for the 2015 NFL draft, so it would make little sense for him to sit out a year to transfer.
