The International Olympic Committee ruled Thursday that American goalie Jessie Vetter will not be able to wear a mask featuring a quote from the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution at next month's Sochi Olympics, according to multiple reports.
The original design for the mask included the phrase "We the people," but IOC rules prohibit any "form of publicity or propaganda, commercial or otherwise." The mask will still have images of the Statue of Liberty, a bald eagle and a USA logo.
Vetter won a silver medal with the U.S. women's team at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and golds at the 2009, 2011 and 2013 IIHF Women's World Championships.
