The Minnesota Vikings are close to a deal to make Norv Turner their offensive coordinator, Adam Schefter reported Thursday.
Turner held the same position with the Cleveland Browns in 2013, and would join new coach Mike Zimmer in Minnesota. Zimmer was the defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals for five seasons before the Vikings hired him Wednesday. While Cleveland continues its own search for a head coach, assistants remain in a state of limbo.
The Vikings were tied for 14th in the NFL in scoring offense in 2013. Turner is widely considered one of the top offensive minds in football -- his teams in San Diego ranked in the top five in scoring every year from 2007-2011.
Vikings and Norv Turner are close to a deal and league sources believe he will be Mike Zimmer's offensive coordinator in Minnesota.
