USC quarterback Max Wittek has announced his intention to transfer before the 2014 season, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.

Wittek started several games in 2012 when first string QB Matt Barkley was injured, but lost the starting job to Cody Kessler in the 2013 season.

NCAA rules allow Wittek to play for another team without losing a year of eligibility as he will graduate from USC this spring as a red shirt junior. He will have two remaining years of eligibility.

Wittek said that he harbors no ill will against the school and remembers his time there fondly.

"I’ve been through a lot and USC has helped me become the man I am today and there is no better place. The Trojan family is amazing."
