NBA: No discussions about expanding court or adding 4-point line

The NBA said Tuesday that there have been no plans to expand the court or add a four-point line.

During the All-Star Weekend in New Orleans NBA president of basketball operations Rod Thorn and vice president Kiki Vandeweghe hypothetically spoke about and discussed both concepts.

The NBA's three-point line has been in place since the 1979-80 season, with the line being set at 23 feet, 9 inches and 22 feet at the corners.

The court's current dimensions of 94-feet-by-50-feet has been in place since the 1940s.

"No one at the NBA, nor the competition committee, has had any serious conversations about increasing the size of the floor or adding a 4-point line," NBA spokesman Tim Frank said in a statement, via ESPN.com. "Rod Thorn and Kiki Vandeweghe were entertaining a line of questioning about out-of-the-box ideas and ESPN.com chose to make a story that doesn't exist."
