The Charlotte Bobcats waived Ben Gordon, according Zach Harper of CBSSports.com.
The move comes the day after the playoff eligibility deadline, which means the team that signs Gordon may not put him on its playoff roster, making it unlikely he will play again this season.
The Bobcats, who are currently slated to be the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, released a statement thanking Gordon for his service.
“With the recent acquisition of additional backcourt depth to our roster, we believe this is in the best interests of both parties,”[Bobcats president of basketball operations] Higgins said. “We want to thank Ben for his contributions over the past two seasons and wish him the best as he moves on in his career.”
