The Indianapolis Colts are nearing a contract agreement with impending free-agent cornerback Vontae Davis, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported Sunday. According to La Canfora, the deal is expected to get done on Monday, before the free-agent market officially opens.
SI.com's Chris Burke rated Davis the No. 3 available cornerback on the market. Just two days ago, reports pegged Davis and the Colts as "far apart" in talks, but La Canfora suggested they have narrowed the gap.
Colts general manager Ryan Grigson sent a 2013 second-round pick to Miami for Davis, who has become a legitimate No. 1 cornerback. Davis had 46 tackles, one interception, and 12 passes defended last season with the Colts.
