The Los Angeles Angels and outfielder Mike Trout have agreed on a six-year contract extension beginning in 2015 that will pay Trout $144.5 million, reports Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com.

Trout has been among the best all-around players in baseball since his first full season in 2012, finishing second to Miguel Cabrera in MVP voting in each of the last two years, while batting .324 with a .976 OPS, 57 home runs and 82 stolen bases.

The contract covers three of Trout's arbitration years, as well as his first three years of free agent eligibility, and will keep the former AL Rookie of the Year in an Angels uniform until 2021, when he will be 29 years old.
