Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper left the team's Friday night game early after appearing to injure his left thumb sliding into third base, according to Matt Snyder of CBSSports.com.

Harper hit a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the third inning to give the Nationals a five run lead over the San Diego Padres, but was replaced by Nate McLouth shortly thereafter. The Nationals held on to win 11-1.

The left fielder had come under fire this week for his lack of hustle after being benched by manager Matt Williams for failing to run hard to first base after hitting a ground ball to the pitcher.
