Sacramento Mayor and former NBA All-Star Kevin Johnson spoke with the media on behalf of the National Basketball Player's Association on Sunday about the concerns the union has about the league's investigation into Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling's alleged racist comments, according to ESPN's J.A. Adande.
Johnson told reporters that players wished to be informed what the most severe penalty the league could levy against an owner, and would like an explanation for why Sterling faced no sanctions after multiple past allegations of racism. The union would also like Sterling banned from attending any of the Clippers' remaining playoff games.
When asked about the possibility of a boycott, Johnson said that the players currently have no reason to believe the league was mishandling the investigation, and intend to continue playing.

"When you boycott, you boycott because you don’t think it’s going to be handled or dealt with appropriately, or you need more attention... Let’s see what’s decided over the next couple of days. Let’s see if our issues are being addressed."
Johnson also added that he hopes the NBA's other owners endorse a zero tolerance policy for such behavior in the future.
