Donald Sterling's wife, Shelly, believes that she is entitled to maintain ownership of the Clippers and that the NBA's sanctions apply only to her husband and not the rest of her family, according to a new report from the Los Angeles Times.

Shelly Sterling said that she has been a longtime 'die-hard' fan of the team which her family has owned since 1982, appears ready to fight to maintain her ownership, and has sought legal counsel on how to best proceed.

Many within the Clippers organization are hoping for a fresh start after the negative press created when Donald Sterling's racist remarks went public last month, with longtime Clippers announcer Ralph Lawler saying it would be difficult to continue with a Sterling leading the team.

"I think in the eyes of the players and the coaching staff and the basketball staff, the page has been turned, and I think it would be difficult to turn it back."
