Marlins catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia was taken off the disabled list on Wednesday, Marlins MLB.com beat reporter Joe Frisaro tweeted.

The news comes nearly three weeks after Saltalamacchia suffered a concussion on May 31 after he was hit in the catcher's mask by B.J. Upton's foul tip.

The 29-year-old, who won a World Series with the Red Sox last year, got off to a hot start this season but cooled off in May before his injury, batting .177/.258/.241 across 89 plate appearances.

At 36-35, the Marlins are behind only the Nationals for first place in the NL East.
