The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority walked in the Las Vegas Aces' locker room Friday with a bit of a surprise.

"Today we want to do something new," LVCVA president Steve Hill said as he addressed Aces players. "Something I don't think anybody's ever done before. We want to recognize you individually. We want to put some money in your pocket.

"We've got an offer for you. ... We would like to offer each of you, individually, a sponsorship this year in the amount of $100,000."

The Aces players immediately celebrated the news. All 12 players on the roster walked out of the locker room $100,000 richer.

"The offer is really simple," Hill said. "We want you to just play, keep repping Las Vegas. And if you get a three-peat, that will be icing on the cake."

The Aces, who won the WNBA championship in 2022 and '23, began their '24 campaign by defeating the Phoenix Mercury 89–80 at home. They return to the court Saturday to host the Los Angeles Sparks at Michelob Ultra Arena.
