Brandon McDonald has found a new home in San Jose with the Earthquakes. The Glendale, Ariz. native was cut by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the offseason, and after an unsuccessful trial with expansion club Seattle Sounders FC, has latched on with San Jose.

The 23-year-old powerful midfield has signed a developmental contract with the Bay area club.

McDonald was in and out of the Galaxy squad for his rookie year. The highlight came late in the season against the Colorado Rapids when he scored a 35-yard stunner to help LA to a win.

"I'll shoot from farther," he told reporters after the match. "In college my grandmother used to say shoot from half field."

San Jose take on the New England Revolution tomorrow to kick off their 2009 Major League Soccer season. -- Goal.com
