Chivas USA deals Eskandarian to Galaxy

Chivas USA announced Wednesday that it has traded forward Alecko Eskandarian to the Los Angeles Galaxy for allocation money and a conditional pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.

"This move allows us greater flexibility in terms of our roster and salary budget," said Chivas USA head coach Preki in a statement. "We would like to thank Alecko for his contributions to our club. We wish him the best."

The 26-year-old Eskandarian is becoming something of an MLS journeyman as the Galaxy will be his fifth club in six years. The move follows three seasons as a D.C. United player, one split between Toronto FC and Real Salt Lake, and a season-and-a-half with Chivas.

A native of Montvale, N.J., Eskandarian has scored 28 goals in his MLS career and has also been capped by the U.S. national team on one occasion.
