Midfielder Jermaine Jones will be with the U.S. national team when it gathers in Kansas City next week, SI.com has learned. There had been reports in Germany on Sunday that Jones would have meniscus surgery and miss up to six weeks of action, but that surgery is not happening and Jones will fly to Kansas City ahead of the U.S.’s World Cup qualifier against Jamaica a week from Friday.
Jones will sit out Schalke’s Champions League game against Basel on Tuesday as part of a disciplinary action within the team following his play in Schalke's weekend tie against Hoffenheim.
