The U.S. national team plans to play one of its three World Cup warm-up friendlies at Red Bull Arena, multiple sources have told SI.com. The game likely would take place either May 27 or June 1.

If finalized, the match would be the national team's second visit to the Harrison, N.J., stadium. The U.S. lost to Ecuador in October 2011 in coach Jurgen Klinsmann's fifth game at the helm.

The 2014 schedule is starting to take shape. After facing South Korea in Carson, Calif. on Saturday, the Americans will hit the road and meet Ukraine on March 5 in Kharkiv. That is a FIFA international date, meaning Klinsmann will have the entire U.S. player pool at his disposal.

All but one of the 22 men currently in camp at StubHub Center play in MLS. The league's 19th season season kicks off on March 8.

The U.S. Soccer Federation confirmed to MLSSoccer.com on Tuesday that it is "in discussions about a match in April." There's already speculation that a showdown with Mexico in Glendale, Ariz., is among the options. Klinsmann then is expected to select his 23-man World Cup roster in mid-May, at which point the team will gather for training and three sendoff friendlies.

SI.com understands that the potential Red Bull Arena game would be either the first or second of the three. The U.S. is looking to play the final friendly on June 7 in Florida before departing for São Paulo the following day.
