Geoff Cameron didn't start off Stoke's 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on the right foot. But he sure did end it well.

The American defender struggled along with the rest of the Stoke team to start the game, as his error allowed Fabian Delph to get in behind the defense and cross to a wide-open Christian Benteke, who opened the scoring for Villa in just the fifth minute.

However, from then on it was all Stoke City. Peter Odemwingie, then Peter Crouch, then Steven N'Zonzi all scored on Villa's American goalkeeper Brad Guzan in the first half to give Stoke a commanding lead going into halftime, and then Cameron himself stepped up to strike on his countryman after holding Villa at bay for the second 45.

Marko Arnautovic plaed provider to cap a great all-around performance, taking the ball to the endline and cutting it back for Cameron, who completed his finish like a center forward.

The result does little to change the standings, with both Stoke and Aston Villa sitting solidly in mid-table, neither in immediate danger of relegation and too far out of contention for a place in European competition next season. But the goal will be a nice confidence-booster for Cameron as he seeks to secure his place in the U.S. World Cup team and make a claim for a starting spot.
