Giuseppe Rossi

New Jersey-born forward Giuseppe Rossi was among the final cuts for Italy's World Cup roster in 2010, and he's been given another chance to shine on the world's stage after his latest injury comeback.

Rossi is among the 30 players called in by Italy manager Cesare Prandelli Tuesday, and he'll fight for a spot among the Azzurri's final 23 against the likes of forwards Mario Balotelli, Serie A leading scorer Ciro Immobile, veteran Antonio Casano and Mattia Destro.

Longtime stalwarts Andrea Pirlo, Daniele De Rossi and Gianluigi Buffon are among those expected to lead Italy this summer, when it faces England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in a loaded Group D.

As for Rossi, he was leading Serie A in scoring while playing for Fiorentina before suffering his third serious knee injury in two years in January. He recovered and returned for Fiorentina's Coppa Italia final against Napoli and managed to score in his first league game back.
