Report: Fulham, Sunderland among teams interested in Matt Besler

Fulham and Sunderland are two of several European teams interested in United States men's national soccer team defender Matt Besler, MLSsoccer.com's Greg Seltzer reports.

Besler, who plays in MLS with Sporting Kansas City, would reportedly fetch a transfer fee between $5 million and $6 million. Seltzer said one of the interested clubs is in the Bundesliga, but most of the clubs are in the Premier League.

Seltzer did not list all of the teams looking at Besler, but did name two:

I can confirm that one of those admirers is Sunderland, and that they have not made an offer yet. I can also now confirm that Fulham is one of the Championship suitors, and that they have made at least one offer to now.

Nate Bukaty of Sports Radio 810 WHB in Kansas City also tweeted that Besler confirmed Sunderland and Fulham's interest in an interview. 

Besler confirmed that Fulham and Sunderland are two of the teams who have put in offers for him.

Fulham was relegated from the Premier League after finishing second-to-last in the 2013/2014 campaign. Sunderland -- where U.S. striker Jozy Altidore plays -- managed to finish 14th. 

Besler, 27, is the captain of Sporting Kansas City and started each 2014 World Cup match at center back for the United States.
