Manchester United announces roster for U.S. tour; no van Persie

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal announced the team's roster for its annual preseason United States tour.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal announced Friday the team's roster for its annual preseason United States tour.

While star Wayne Rooney will make the trip, several other key players will not. Dutch striker Robin van Persie is getting time off after leading the Netherlands to a 3rd-place finish at the World Cup. Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez and Marouane Fellaini are also not participating in the trip. Midfielder Michael Carrick will not make the tip after having surgery on his left ankle.

The full roster: De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Johnstone, Rafael, Evans, Smalling, Jones, Shaw, Blackett, M Keane, James, Herrera, Cleverley, Fletcher, Young, Zaha, Kagawa, Mata, Valencia, Nani, Lingard, Welbeck, Rooney, W Keane.
