Report: Matt Besler wants long-term deal with Sporting Kansas City
Matt Besler wants to sign a long-term deal to stay with Sporting Kansas City, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
Besley confirmed Wednesday that Fulham and Sunderland both put offers in for him.
Besler is under contract with Sporting through the 2015 season, when he will make $220,000. This season Besler earns $200,000, which makes him the 32nd-highest paid defender in Major League Soccer.
More from The Kansas City Star:
Eddie Rock, Besler’s agent, said his client has not dismissed the possibility of playing overseas, though he said discussions with Sporting KC have reached “an advanced stage” as the two sides look to reach an agreement on a new contract.
Besler started at center back for each of the United States' four 2014 World Cup matches.
