Manchester City may develop players at MLS franchise New York City FC
Manchester City will consider sending young players to its MLS team, New York City FC, to develop, according to BBC Sport.
City owns the MLS club in partnership with the New York Yankees. Manchester City chief executive FerranSoriano described the plan to use New York City FC as a way to give young players more experience.
"We have some bright players. We might ask them to come to New York before they play at Manchester," City chief executive Ferran Soriano told ESPN.
"This is a team that's going to play beautiful soccer in New York."
New York City FC will play its first season in the MLS beginning in March 2015. The team signed England and Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard to a two-year contract last week. New York also added goalkeeper Josh Saunders last month.
Manchester City will open its defense of the Premier League title on Aug. 17 against Newcastle.
