John Stones signs new five-year deal with Everton
John Stones, a 20-year-old defender for Everton, has signed a new five-year deal with the club, Everton announced on Thursday.
Stones became an England international player last year and was on the standby list for England's 2014 World Cup team.
The defender still had four years remaining on his contract with Everton, but according to the Guardian, Toffees boss Roberto Martinez wanted to reward his young player with an improved deal.
"It is an important signing for the club and a really good reward for a young footballer with a fantastic future," said Martinez. “It is very important that we continue to let our youngsters continue to develop into bigger roles."

Stones made 20 first-team starts and appeared in 26 games overall for Everton last season.
“I am over the moon. It’s just been such a great last season and to get pen to paper on a new deal is a dream come true," said Stones.
Last week, Everton signed striker Romelu Lukaku to a five-year contract.
