Atletico Madrid reach agreement for transfer of striker Raul Jimenez
Atletico Madrid and Club America have reached an agreement for the transfer of striker Raul Jimenez, the team announced Wednesday.
Jimenez will sign with the club pending a medical exam. The terms of the transfer were not disclosed, but a report from the Spanish newspaper Marca says the transfer fee was €10.5 million ($14 million).
The 23-year-old has played for Mexico's Club America since 2011. In 98 games for the club, Jimenez has scored 35 goals.
From Marca:
Jiménez, talking about a possible move to Atlético a few days ago, was looking at it as a "great opportunity."
"They're a team that have been growing, that have been doing everything right recently. If they sign me, that's great, I'll have to give them my best, keep pushing my limits, keep making history in my career", said Jiménez following his side's 2-0 victory away at Tigres UANL.
