Martin Odegaard will become Norway's youngest player when he suits up for an Aug. 27 friendly against the United Arab Emirates.

Odegaard will be 15 years and 253 days old on the day of the match, breaking a 104-year record, according to BBC.

"He has played so well in a number of league games that I wanted to see him in the national team," Norway coach Per-Mathias Hogmo said in a statement. "I said before the season that he was going to be the comet of this season and that he could become the youngest player in the history of the national team. I am not surprised that he has performed so well up to now. Now I can't wait to see him in action," added the coach.

Odegaard, who has drawn interest from top clubs around Europe, is already the youngest player to make an appearance in Norway's top league.

Since being called up to reigning champions Stromsgodset in April, the attacking midfielder has scored three goals in 14 appearances.
