“I think Turf Moor is an intimidating place to come for any away team, and we can use that atmosphere to make it a difficult place for teams to come.
“We did really well last year at Hull to stay in the league and get to an FA Cup final and I think to stay up will be the aim here too. There is a lot of experience in the squad and once you have had a taste of the Premier League it’s where you want to stay."
The 28-year-old began his career with Stevenage Borough and played for two more clubs before joining Hull in February 2013, helping the team earn a promotion to the Premier League. He made 43 league appearances for Hull, scoring six goals.
Boyd has also made two appearances for the Scotland men's national team.
Burnley, back in the Premier League for the first time since 2009-10, earned its first point this season after drawing with Manchester United on Saturday.
