An Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone will take place after concerns that Ivory Coast would be disqualified for refusing to play the game on home soil due to fears over Ebola.

On Monday, the Ivorian government decided to allow Sierra Leone's team to enter the country, allowing the match to proceed as scheduled on Sept. 6 in the Ivorian city of Abidjan.

According to the Associated Press, the Ivorian government was assured that Sierra Leone's players and coaches had not been in Sierra Leone or any other country affected by Ebola for the amount of time required (three weeks) for symptoms of the deadly disease to develop.

Sierra Leone, which earlier this month called off all football matches indefinitely, will field a team consisting of players based outside the country. Those players and their coaches agreed to be screened when they enter Ivory Coast.

The Confederation of African Football has determined that no matches will be played in Sierra Leone and Guinea until at least mid-September.

Ebola has infected more than 3,000 people and killed more than 1,500, according to the World Health Organization.
