David Beckham confident he can establish MLS team in Miami
David Beckham told Bloomberg that he is confident he can find a place to build a stadium for a Major League Soccer team in Miami.
Beckham, along with Sprint Corp. Chief Executive Officer Marcelo Claure and “American Idol” producer Simon Fuller, is working to bring a team to Miami.
“Miami will happen,” Beckham told Bloomberg. “I said I want to bring a team here and I will take a team to Miami. There are speed bumps along the way and we’ve come up against those.”
The biggest speed bump so far for the group is finding somewhere to build the new stadium. Two of the group's proposals have been rejected.

“I’ve been very cheeky in a way because I’ve gone into Miami and I said ‘OK, I wanna build Old Trafford or Wembley stadium next to Buckingham Palace,’” Beckham said. “My dream was to have our stadium on a waterfront. It’s not worked out like that and we have alternative sites. It will happen.”
Beckham played for MLS side LA Galaxy from 2007-2012. He played most of his career with Manchester United and also spent four years with Real Madrid.
