Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stepped down after less than nine months on the job citing a ‘difference in philosophy’ with the owners.

Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stepped down after less than nine months on the job citing a ‘difference in philosophy’ with the owners, the club announced. 

Cardiff City are currently 17th in the Football League Championship with eight points in seven games this season.

“Having spoken with Ole on deciding the best course of action for all parties, I’m sorry to say that we have agreed that it is in the best interest of the Club for us to go our separate ways,” Cardiff City Chairman Mehmet Dalman said.

Solskjaer won only five of his 25 domestic games in charge, as Cardiff City were relegated from the Barclays Premier League at the end of last season.

"I want to thank Vincent for giving me the opportunity to manage Cardiff City FC. He has my full respect and I really wish him all the best in his pursuit of making this football club successful," Solskjaer said, referring to Cardiff owner Vincent Tan.

Defender Danny Gabbidon and coach Scott Young are in charge for Saturday’s game against Derby County.
