U.S. men's national team winger Joe Gyau made his first-team debut with Borussia Dortmund Wednesday, coming on as a second-half substitute in the club's 2-2 draw with Stuttgart.

The 22-year-old Gyau, who earned his first U.S. men's national-team cap in the 1-0 win over Czech Republic in September, moved to Dortmund from Hoffenheim over the summer, and it was thought that he'd play solely with the club's Under-23 team at the onset of his time in black and yellow. While he has two goals in eight games for the U-23s – which plays in Germany's third division and is coached by American David Wagner – he has begun to earn the trust of first-team manager Jurgen Klopp.

Gyau replaced goal-scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with Dortmund trailing 2-1 in the 74th minute. Italian international Ciro Immobile scored an equalizer in the 86th, salvaging a point for BVB.

The game was Gyau's third in the Bundesliga, as he had made two prior appearances for Hoffenheim last season, including one against Dortmund. Gyau figures to be part of Jurgen Klinsmann's team for upcoming friendlies against Ecuador and Honduras, which fall during a FIFA international fixture window.
