USWNT captain Christie Rampone: We support Hope Solo
Christie Rampone, the captain of the United States women's national team, sat down for an interview with 120 Sports and discussed the domestic violence allegations against her national team teammate Hope Solo.
Solo is charged with two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree domestic violence assault after a June altercation with her sister and 17-year-old nephew at a family gathering. She pled not guilty.
Rampone said Thursday that she and the nation team will continue to support Solo.
Despite the allegations, Solo continues to play for the United States and with her National Women's Soccer League team, the Seattle Reign. Solo's trial is scheduled for November.
U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati said Monday that Solo will continue to play for the team until her legal issues are resolved.
Rampone also plays for the Sky Blue FC in the National Women's Soccer League. The 39-year-old has played in four Olympics for the United States, and has three gold medals (2004, 2008, 2012), and a silver medal (2000).
