UEFA president Michel Platini wants to add a penalty box for players who disrespect officials, The Guardian reports.

Platini proposed a white card which would send players to a penalty box for 10 minutes if they disrespect referees.

The Frenchman said dissent was a “veritable epidemic” in football but the white card “should not be confused in any way with the yellow card, which for its part is dedicated to fouls within the game”.

Platini also said he would like to increase the amount of substitutions per game from three to five.

Platini has been called for the ethics investigation into the awarding of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to Russia and Qatar to be made public. FIFA president Sepp Blatter has maintained the report will not be published.

Earlier this month, Platini returned a luxury watch he -- along with other members of the FIFA Executive Committee -- received before the 2014 World Cup. He originally said he would not return the watch, which was valued at nearly $30,000, because he doesn't return gifts. He planned to make a donation to charity for the value of the watch.
