Morgan, 25, has 49 goals in 75 appearances for the national team. She scored twice for the Americans in the last World Cup, where the team placed second. She had two more goals to help the U.S. win the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics.
Morgan was injured in the 38th minute of Friday's game and was replaced by Christen Press.
Morgan has a history of injuries to her left ankle. A separate injury to that ankle kept her sidelined from last November through June.
The U.S. won Friday's game 5-0 and will face Haiti on Monday.
