Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo could be out for an extended period of time after dislocating his shoulder during Sunday's loss to Manchester City.

Rojo could miss at least six weeks if the injury is minor and up to three months if the shoulder requires surgery, according to The Telegraph

Despite media reports, Rojo's father said the injury was "not too severe" and that the defender would miss only two or three games, according to The Guardian

Rojo will miss Saturday's match against Crystal Palace, but there has been no other official word on his return.

Manchester United is already without Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Rafael da Silva due to injuries. Additionally, Chris Smalling will face a one-match suspension against Crystal Palace after picking up a red card in the 1-0 derby loss.

Rojo played for Sporting Lisbon before Manchester United acquired him as a transfer in August and signed him to a five-year contract.

Manchester United is tied for ninth in the Premier League table with 13 points, having gone 3-3-4 in 10 games this season.
