A 2016 European Championship qualifying game between Italy and Croatia was halted on Sunday after Croatian fans threw flares onto the field. 

The game, which is being played at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan, Italy, was tied 1-1 when play was stopped.

Riot police had to clear the section that was the source of the flares before the game could be resumed.

Italy and Croatia entered Sunday tied for first place in Group H with three wins apiece. 

In October, fans lit fireworks and flares and threw them on the field during a game between Arsenal and Galatasaray, also causing a temporary stoppage. Galatasaray was fined $64,00 over the incident because its supporters threw the flares.
