The U.S. national team striker tallied AZ Alkmaar's opening goal in a 2-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles on Saturday, applying the finishing touch from a difficult angle after a nice interchange at the top of the box between Johansson's striker partern Muamer Tankovic and Dabney Souza, who would go on to score AZ's second goal of the game in the second half.
The goal is Johannsson's second in the DutchEredivisie after missing the first part of the season due to an injury suffered with the U.S. national team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Johansson was making his fifth start of the season, playing the full 90 minutes for the third time in that span.
AZ currently sits fifth in the Eredivisie table, locked in a three-way tie on 24 points with Twente and Feyenoord. The club can make a big jump in the standings with a win against Feyenoord, which they take on next Sunday.
