Lauren Holiday voted U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year

U.S. Soccer has named Lauren Holiday its Female Athlete of the Year. Holiday, a holding midfielder, has made 16 appearances and 15 starts for the women's national team in 2014. She started all five games during the team's championship run in the CONCACAF qualifying tournament.

Lauren Holiday has been voted U.S. Soccer's Female Athlete of the Year.

Holiday, a holding midfielder, has made 16 appearances and 15 starts for the women's national team in 2014. She started all five games during the team's championship run in the CONCACAF qualifying tournament.

Holiday also plays for FC Kansas City in the National Women's Soccer League. She recorded two assists to help her team upset Seattle Reign FC in the league's championship game in August.

U.S. forward Abby Wambach won the award in 2010, 2011 and 2013, while Alex Morgan won it in 2012.

Goalkeeper Tim Howard was voted the U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year in 2014.
