Seattle Sounders defender DeAndre Yedlin won his appeal for a UK work permit, according to MLSsoccer.com. He will likely play for Tottenham in January.

The permit was first reported by The Sunday People.

Yedlin signed a four-year transfer deal with Tottenham in August. England's visa rules state that non-European players must have participated in 75 percent of their national team's matches during the two years previous to be granted a work permit. Yedlin did not qualify, so Tottenham had to file an appeal to have him available.

In October, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said there was a possibility Yedlin could move to the club in January.

Yedlin made his debut for the Sounders in 2013 and has been an MLS All-Star the past two seasons. He has played in 69 matches, and has three goals and six assists. Seattle lost to the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference championship in the 2014 MLS playoffs.

Yedlin played for the United States men's national team during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and played in the team's games against Portugal,  Germany and Belgium.

Tottenham is currently in seventh place in the Premier League with 27 points in 17 games.
