New Premier League TV rights deal in UK worth $7.8 billion
The Premier League has struck a new three-year domestic television rights deal in the United Kingdom that is worth $7.8 billion, according to the Associated Press.
Sky Sports and BT Sport won rights to the deal, which runs from 2016-2019. Of the 168 matches with broadcast rights available, 126 were won by Sky Sports.

According to the AP, the deal is a 70 percent increase from what Sky and BT agreed to pay in 2012 to show 154 live games between 2013 and 2016.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore spoke on the impact of the deal after it was announced.
"This outcome provides a degree of certainty so clubs can continue to invest and run themselves in a sustainable manner; it also allows us to start planning how the Premier League can continue to support the rest of the football pyramid from the grassroots upwards," he said.
"This structure also allows us to strike a balance between match-attending fans and those who choose to watch on television. Keeping grounds full is a priority for the Premier League and our clubs, and I am sure the flexible ticketing policies that have helped keep attendances so high will continue to develop."
