Managerless QPR earns 2-0 win away from home at Sunderland
SUNDERLAND, England (AP) — Queens Park Rangers ended its 11-game losing streak away from home in the Premier League by beating Sunderland 2-0 on Tuesday to provisionally climb out of the relegation zone.
Netherlands midfielder Leroy Fer put the managerless visitors ahead in the 17th minute by heading home a right-wing cross from Matty Phillips.
Phillips was also the supplier for the second goal in first-half injury time by Bobby Zamora, who hooked home a finish on the turn.
QPR hadn't won a single away point this season before its trip to the Stadium of Light.
The victory capped a successful night for QPR chairman Tony Fernandes, who said on Twitter before kickoff that he thinks he has secured his "dream manager" to replace the recently resigned Harry Redknapp. Fernandes didn't reveal a name.
