Newcastle head coach John Carver was asked if he believes the surgery means the end of Tiote's season, to which he replied, "I would have thought so, yes," according to BBC.

Carver said Tiote is currently in Qatar, where he will recover for a bit before returning.
Tiote has played in 12 matches for Newcastle this year and dealt with a hamstring injury earlier in the season. The 28-year-old has been with Newcastle since 2010.
