One of the most recognizable players in the U.S., female or male, Morgan has slowly been recovering from two serious ankle injuries in 2013 and 2014. Before that, she had one of the most productive years in national team history, scoring 28 goals and adding 21 assists in 2012 to win the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year award and finish third in voting for FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year.

Nicknamed "Baby Horse," Morgan came off the bench for all five of her appearances during the 2011 World Cup, scoring in the semifinal and final. She took over a starting spot during Olympic qualifying in 2012, scoring twice with two assists against Canada in a 4-0 win. Morgan eventually scored three goals and added four assists, including three on game-winning goals, during the London Olympics. In 2014, she married Sporting Kansas City midfielder Servando Carrasco.
