Press has one of the most prolific goalscoring records for an American in Europe, scoring 12 UEFA Champions League goals in 15 games for Swedish clubs Göteborg FC in 2012-13 and Tyresö FF in 2013-14. She led Tyresö with nine in the latter season, including a hat trick in the first leg of the quarterfinals. Press earned her first caps with the senior national team while playing in Europe, breaking the general trend among American women of garnering attention while playing in leagues at home.
She has since joined the Chicago Red Stars, leading NWSL with four goals in three 2015 matches before joining the U.S.’s pre-World Cup camp. Press scored 11 times for the U.S. in a breakout 2014 year, playing either at forward or on the right wing. She will likely start in the midfield in Canada, providing another technical, dynamic option in the attack from a wide spot.
