Watch: Hope Solo makes pair of incredible saves early vs. Australia
Hope Solo was in top form early in U.S. women's national team's World Cup opener against Australia on Monday night. The 33-year-old goalkeeper made a couple of impressive saves to deny the Aussies, which can be seen below.
Solo's performance came just over 24 hours after ESPN released new details about her domestic violence arrest last June. ESPN obtained the police reports from the incident, including a document stating Solo was combative while she was in jail.
U.S. women's national team manager Jill Ellis was asked at a press conference on Sunday whether the domestic violence allegations against Solo were a distraction to her team.
"That was a long time ago," Ellis said of Solo's arrest, according to the Los Angeles Times. "We've moved on. And she's been a fantastic player and a teammate."

There was much speculation as to whether the report would impact Solo's play on the field, but she turned in a strong first-half performance.
