Colombia shocks France with 2-0 win in Women's World Cup
Might want to hold off on those plans for a Germany-France quarterfinal.
Colombia produced the biggest upset yet of this Women's World Cup on Saturday, stunning 2011 semifinalist France 2-0 in Moncton and throwing Group F into complete upheaval. Colombia now sits atop the group with four points, while France has three. Mexico, which has a point, plays England later Saturday.
Women's World Cup: Five best goals from competition's opening week
France's final group game is Wednesday against Mexico.
France came into the World Cup as a favorite, having reached the semifinals at both the last World Cup and the 2012 Olympics. But the draw put them on a collision course with another favorite, Germany, in the quarterfinals.
That, however, assumed France would win Group F, something that's no longer a given thanks to Colombia, which won its first game in two World Cup appearances.
The loss could wind up working to France's advantage, however. By finishing second in Group F, it would avoid the quarterfinal showdown with Germany and instead likely play Norway in the Round of 16 and Canada in the quarterfinals.

While Colombia did get the benefit of two no-calls on hand balls, goalkeeper Sandra Sepulveda was dazzling, repeatedly denying the French. Lady Andrade scored in the 19th minute, and Catalina Usme sealed the victory with another goal in stoppage time of the second half.
