Trinidad & Tobago and Mexico brought a jolt of excitement to a night otherwise devoid of live sports, with both teams scoring in stoppage time en route to a thrilling 4-4 draw in the Gold Cup on Wednesday. 

As one of the tournament's surprise packages, T&T only needed a draw to finish on top of Group C, while Mexico needed a victory if it was to win the group and get an easier matchup in the quarterfinals. But after 90 minutes of back-and-forth soccer, Mexico will take on Costa Rica in a heavyweight quarterfinal on Sunday, while Trinidad will face Panama. 

Things started off so well for Mexico, which went up 2-0 thanks to a first-half goal from Paul Aguilar and another from Carlos Vela in the 51st minute. Kerron Cummings responded for T&T with a goal in the 55th minute, and was followed up just two minutes later by Kenwyne Jones to even the score.

That's when things got a little crazy. First, Cummings put Trinidad & Tobago in front with an exquisitely rifled shot from a tough angle:

Mexico's Andres Guardado followed that up with a golazo of his own, lacing a shot from the top of the box to draw El Tri level at 3-3:

Then, the match had its roller-coaster moment; seeming heartbreak for Trinidad and Tobago, as Jones put the ball into his own goal following a driven cross, giving Mexico a 4-3 lead in stoppage time:

As the final seconds of stoppage time ticked off the clock, T&T earned a corner, which Joevin Jones went to take as Mexican fans threw bottles and other assorted objects at him. Jones looked at the referee, who could do nothing about the mayhem. Then he delivered an absolutely perfect cross on to the head of Yohance Marshall, who tied things at 4-4 with the last play of the game.
